Job title: Solution Engineer

Job location: Brussels, Belgium

Role Description:

At the crossroads between new technologies and service management, the observability team designs and implements the monitoring infrastructure of Proximus. We provide systems that ensure a real time view for the operation centers of all events on the network and IT applications, and their impact on our customers and services.

We are involved in all evolutions of Proximus services and technologies (mobile and fixed network, new IT technologies) and we quickly need to design our tools to assure the best possible experience for our Proximus customers and support operational processes of various expert teams.

Our current challenges:

Our Network and applications are quickly evolving, new technics (with Artificial intelligence, unsupervised anomaly detection, auto discovery of the service model?) have to be used to minimize the load on our operational teams.

Evolve from component to service monitoring to better assess impact of technical events on services/customers and prioritize/automate resolutions.

Shorten time to detect anomalies be more proactive / preventive.

Shorten time to repair introduce automation/ease the root cause analysis

Standardize the monitoring at Proximus while filling monitoring gaps

Mission:

The Solution Engineer will perform the following tasks in collaboration with the expert from IT & network teams of different Proximus departments:

Early involvement in business and technical projects to stress the need of adequate monitoring and produce the monitoring requirements

Analyse the technical specification of these projects, define the best monitoring option, produce the design and implement it.

Translate infrastructure/network events into service and customer impact views

Manage, configure and integrate observability platforms

Skills and experience:

Minimum Master Level (ideally informatics with knowledge of Telecommunication) or proven experience in the OSS/event management domain

You have confirmed experience in a complex IT & Telco environment

Principles of telecom: network topologies and architectures

Principles of IT system: OS, database, virtualization.

Ability to create clear and concise documentation (visual model, workflow diagram?)

Knowledge of event management/monitoring/observability concepts and protocols

You have knowledge of DevOps and agile development principles & methodologies

Functional knowledge of the domain and data model standards like eTOM/ ITIL is considered as an asset.

Good knowledge of English is mandatory (both oral and written). French and/or Dutch is an advantage.

Specific to this position:

We are looking for experience with LiveSP/Live Action

Able to:

Assure the vendor and product management

Understand network performance reporting

Understand QoS concepts and protocols

Bring technical expertise to improve current deployment

SDWAN technologies knowledge is a plus

Python & PERL experience is mandatory.
